Last week, the Crisafulli government announced a historic legislative package with the potential to reshape industrial relations in Australia. The Bill, introduced by Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie, has been touted as the restoration of a major democratic freedom in the state, and it will have repercussions nationwide if it passes.
Bleijie’s own comments on the floor of Parliament about “enshrining competition and freedom of association” hint that the LNP government is considering a return to full-blown competitive unionism. If they hold their nerve and follow through with this, they will be striking at the very heart of the left-wing unions’ power.
This would be nothing short of monumental, particularly given how fatally misunderstood that power structure has been from most in the right-wing political class, which is why they’ve been losing to it for decades.
The Truth about Unions
If we are to successfully disarm this cabal of malicious actors, whose power is sourced by their routine abuse of the Australian people, then we must first understand how they’ve been able to succeed. There’s a reason they dominate our education, health and construction sectors.
